Just watched this. Holy shit.
Didn’t watch it for Daniel Craig, as it happens. I didn’t even know he was in it until I saw him on the screen. (I actually watched it for David Savile.) The entire production was incredible. Richard Johnson and Elizabeth Spriggs were quite wonderful. Thanks to Angus Wilson’s tightly woven plot, it was destined to be good anyway, but the stellar cast took it to great heights. Although it is fraught with deep regret and sorrow, it is rather addictive viewing. I think I’ll read the book next. (Because I’m a masochist like that.)
